Ceremonial Work

"The shaman knows that whatever beliefs we hold about the nature of reality, the Universe will provide us with evidence that we are right."

Dreaming a Better World

I began studying shamanic traditions in 2004, and since then ceremonial work and the shamanic worldview have been an important part of my life and my path.

In the shamanic tradition, we strive to become more balanced human beings, so that we can illuminate our part of the collective human soul and dream a better world into being.

In the shamanic tradition, ceremonies have been used to seek knowledge and insight, to understand what needs our attention, and to see life from new perspectives.

They can give us an opportunity to process our experiences, find reconciliation, and transform our wounds into maturity and strength. And find a way forward, no matter how far we may have fallen.

Tree ceremonies, walks, sweat lodges, drum journeys, and vision quests are some of the forms I work with.

Through ceremony, we can explore our relationship with ourselves and with nature, but also with deeper dimensions and other worlds within the shamanic worldview.

“We did all kinds of very powerful ceremonies. I got to know new aspects of myself and cleared out a lot of old trauma. So empowering! The sweatlodge was absolutely magic and liberating.” Minerva

In the shamanic tradition, nature is seen as being alive and imbued with spirit, and all life as interconnected. We are part of everything, and everything that exists out there is a reflection of everything that exists within.

“It has given me a deeper understanding of my roots and of the importance of spending time in nature to find strength and inspiration. Your knowledge and your ability to teach are unique. You do it with such love and sincerity that it has touched me deeply.” Tina

Where and how?

Ceremonial work is part of several of my retreats and is also offered as stand-alone courses. It can be combined with other aspects of my work.

Ceremonies may last a few hours, half a day, or a full day, and are sometimes part of a longer programme.

From time to time, Per Hill Nordström and Jesper Nordström join us at Stenaberga Gård to lead their beautiful firewalking ceremonies.

You can find upcoming ceremonies, courses, and retreats here on the website. If you would like to receive information about new dates, you can also join the mailing list by writing to  info@stenaberga.se.

Shamanic Ceremonies

A ceremony creates a dedicated space where we pause and bring our attention to an intention, a question, or something in our lives that needs to be given space. Through ritual, we mark a transition out of everyday life for a while and enter into a different kind of listening.

A ceremony can be simple or more elaborate. It can take place in silence or include drumming, singing, fire, nature, movement, or other ritual elements. The form varies depending on the intention and context of the ceremony.

A ceremony has a clear beginning and a clear end, but the time in between can take different forms. Sometimes the ceremony takes place over a few hours or days; at other times, we carry its intention with us through everyday life for a longer period. Ceremonies can be held both individually and in groups.

What matters is not the form itself, but the presence and intention we bring to the ceremony.

”Petra’s therapeutic work at Stenaberga Gård is a unique and sweet adventure. I experienced a rebirth, a great soullike relief and I connected to my ancestors.” Ester

Shamanic Wisdom

You are introduced to the shamanic worldview and the wisdom of ancient traditions, including the elements, the directions, the different aspects of being human, and how we can understand and create balance between them.

This knowledge serves as a map, helping us navigate in harmony with the life around us.

Through different exercises, you are invited to explore what you learn through your own experience.

“Thank you, Petra, for sharing your knowledge. I have given myself the opportunity to prioritise and go deeper within myself, which has been very valuable. I will continue to explore my inner powers. With gratitude.” Anita

Nature as Teacher and Healer

I grew up in the countryside, and nature has been an important part of my life for as long as I can remember. From the age of ten, I rode my horse into the forest almost every day. There, I found a sense of freedom, stillness, and connection that has had a profound impact on me throughout my life. Long before I began studying shamanic traditions, nature was a place where I could find my balance, listen more deeply, and feel a sense of belonging.

In nature, you can slow down, and among the trees, the body can rest and reconnect with something ancient within us. We walk, listen, spend time in stillness, and from time to time, we speak with the trees and connect through different ceremonies.

We also know more today about the healing and restorative effects that spending time in nature can have on us.

Nature teaches us about our innermost being. It invites us to listen to our hearts and understand our deeper longings. It shows us how we can live with care for life, ourselves, and others, and reminds us of the ever-changing nature of life and that nothing lasts forever.

”To come to Petra in Stenaberga Gård was an extraordinary experience. This lovely and beautiful nature embraced us all as we did all the work with ourselves. Petra is warm and professional and gave us a safe space to explore ourselves in.” Johanna

Song and drum

Song and drum have long held an important place in shamanic and ceremonial traditions.
In many cultures, the drum has been used in ceremonies since ancient times and has been regarded as an instrument with a special power and significance.
In the shamanic tradition, the drum symbolises the heartbeat of Grandmother Earth and our inner fire. The power that gives us the courage to reach for the stars.
Through song and drum, we create connection, presence, and a sense of community.
You are introduced to songs and mantras from different traditions.
